Ashley Madekwe and Ashley Leggat
Madekwe is from a multicultural family. Her birthplace was in South London. Her father and mother were both English. Her family was raised on the South London council estate and when she was fourteen, she attended The Brit School. She graduated with a BA in acting from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. In her time at the school, she performed in several stage productions, such as King Henry V's princess Katherine as well as Wuthering Heights.
Madekwe got her start in acting with a film titled Storm Damage. Since then she's made appearances as a guest for Teachers, Doctors Casualty Drop Dead Gorgeous. Madekwe's first film appearance was Woody Allen's Cassandra's Dream (2007), opposite Colin Farrell. Her popularity led her to play Elisha in a one-off BBC Three drama West 10 LDN pilot. Later, she appeared in six episodes Trexx and Flipside as Ollie. The year 2008 saw her was offered the role as Bambi in the ITV2 show drama Secret Diary of a Call Girl and was featured in the series two and three. Madekwe was also the main character on How to lose friends & betray people, which was released by Sony Pictures Entertainment in 2008. A couple of her credits on stage include Little Sweet Thing (by Roy Williams) and Flight Path (by David Watson).
Madekwe's US debut came in 2009, with The dramatic The Beautiful Life. The series aired only two episodes prior to being ended on The CW. In February of 2011, she was cast in the role of Ashley Davenport in the ABC drama series Revenge. In May of 2013, it was announced that Madekwe, who been a series regular in the past two seasons, would be leaving the show after a guest-appearance in the premiere episode of the new season. She played Tituba in the TV show Salem from 2014 to 2016. Madekwe, her long-time companion, Iddo, married Madekwe in June 2012. Together, they worked in the film Secret Diary of a Call Girl. He also played with her on Salem.
Ashley Leggat, an actress nominated twice for a Gemini Award, comes from a large Hamilton family. She joined her parents, Roy and Patty and four older brothers -Rob, Brett, and twins Todd and Bram. All of her brothers were athletic, and they played baseball as well as hockey during the winter as well as in the summer. Her childhood was spent in stadiums and played baseball. Ashley did not walk; instead, she danced. At age two and half, she found Baby Ballet. Ashley began to be a dancer following this. Ashley continued to dance competitively through high school graduation, with top divisions like ballet, tap, Jazz, Pointe, Acrobatics, Musical Theatre, Lyrical, Hip Hop, and much more. She also won the top awards for soloists in every important dance competitions such as International Dance Challenge, Showstoppers, 56-7-8 Showtime, Flash Dance, Dance, Dance, Dance and many more.
